Post rock was initialy exhibited as part of the Brighton University Degree show, May 2006 for which it won an award. It has subsequently been shown as part of “Deconstruction Reconstruction” at the Fringe Basement Brighton, July 2006 and at Scream Studios Brighton, January 2009. Post Rock is a self sustaining audio installation which takes the typical apparatus of rock music and in removing the musicians reveals a hidden layer of sound normally masked by the bands activity. Minute vibrations of the drum skins and cymbals triggered by subtle feedback tones.

Post Rock is also a reflection upon how our experience of live music is changing due to the introduction of computers and electronics. As physical musicianship is reduced to almost non existence with the use of laptops etc so our attention is not focused upon the actual musicianship. We can become completely immersed and concentrated upon the sound. Taking the apparatus of Rock Music and removing the musicians makes this change in our experience of live music even more apparent. It is so different to the typical rock gig scenario where all eyes are towards the stage, focused apon the gestural theatre of the band. In Post Rock there is no focus and each person in the space becomes an integral part of the piece. The piece deals with the actual physicality of sound and so the audiences presence and movement in the space has a direct impact upon its evloution.
